Ellen J. Hickman is an independent botanical consultant providing a professional service in relation to environmental impact assessment with a focus on flora and vegetation assessments. Services include:

  1. flora inventory

  2. vegetation description and mapping

  3. threatened flora searches

  4. threatened ecological community searches

  5. weed and disease assessment and management recommendations

  6. opportunistic fauna searches

Ellen has undertaken flora and vegetation assessments across the south-west of Western Australia and has a comprehensive knowledge of current floristic taxonomy.

Ellen has a sound understanding of the legislative requirements under the Environmental Protection Act 1986, Wildlife Conservation Act 1950-1979 and the Federal Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

All services are conducted in accordance with best-practise, and meet the requirements of the Environmental Protection Authority’s Latest Guidance Notes for the Assessment of the Environmental Factors for Terrestrial Flora and Vegetation Surveys for Environmental Impact Assessment in Western Australia (No.51).

Ellen J. Hickman is an independent environmental consultant specialising in vegetation and flora surveys in the south-west of Western Australia.  She has 18 years experience as a botanist, initially as a research assistant for the Botany Department of the University of Western Australia, then as a Rare Flora Officer with the Department of Environment and Conservation on the south coast of Western Australia and since 2001 Ellen has managed her own consultancy business based in Albany.
